How do I mount a vice on my workbench?
I have an iron vice and want to know how close to put it to the edge of the workbench. I know it needs room for the wood, but do not know where to put it.
I would mount it on the corner. If its in the middle, then you will be hindered in your operations on what ever you want to do, as its ... See More

What size should I make my workbench?
I am building a workbench. actually 2. But I was wondering what I should make my depth. I have my height and my length figured out one is around 45inches and the other around 32. And both with a height of 37. I want to put casters on them to make them movable and I don't want them to be too top heavy. Most standard benches are around 24 but that seems a little to small. I plan to use it to weld metal on as well as some woodworking. I want it as functional as it is rigid. Any suggestions or engineers that can answer my third grade question would have my thanks as well as my ear. I will edit if you need more info. Thanks for all your answers in advance!

What's the best workbench to use in an apartment?
I recently got into wood carving. I moved out of my family's house to my new apartment. I love the apartment - but unfortunately, my apartment doesn't have the convenience of having a garage with a good workbench. Basically, do you have any recommendations for a good workbench - preferably portable or compact - that could be used inside an apartment? I've been using my kitchen table with newspapers underneath my wood - but I'm afraid the table will get scratched (it's glass) if I don't get a better work area soon.

I need to find out the name of a craft tool used for making shadow boxes. It looks like a quilling tool - size of a ballpoint pen with a curved, flat piece of metal where the nib should be.
